Ok, so I wanted to do a little “housekeeping” and give you something of a blog update …
I was looking back through some of the posts about the lawsuit against the Village and two paramedics today. From the start I wanted people to take seriously the gravity of the situation. But, despite the fact that my comments were based exclusively on public sources, I felt that perhaps I said too much in trying to get people to understand some of the things that were potentially relevant to the case against the Village so that they would not simply shrug off the matter. (To one reader who emailed me to say that the suit would be easily dismissed because of the timing of the first news report, I did share privately some of the conclusions I’d drawn based on several pieces of public information, in order to make clear that this wasn’t going to be just a walk in the park.)
Those posts and comments have been removed and deleted because I was concerned about their contents. My heart definitely goes out to the Lopez family and the tragedy that has occurred. Still, I feel I would also be doing a disservice to the community by doing anything that might have the slightest effect on this case, so I thought it prudent to delete a few of the articles I’d written.
Also, I want to thank everyone for the quality comments over the past couple days. Its precisely that kind of discourse that I envisioned for this blog, and I appreciate those of you who have helped bring things back to that focus.
I made an addition this week to the “intro” post, to add some clarification about comments: “Comments made on articles should be of a nature that adds to the conversation. Those of a derogatory or distracting nature will be removed. Opposing opinions are definitely allowed, however those opinions should contribute to the education of readers of Carpentersville Action Network.” It’s probably worth a reminder — “Whether a comment stays or goes is at my sole discretion”.
I’ll be researching a few things this weekend for posting during the week next week. Be sure to check back over the weekend too for any impromptu postings related to news and commentary on Carpentersville.
[BTW, because this posting is intended to be informational, comments have been closed on it.]
