Well, well … would you look at that? The Village posted a job on the website that doesn’t require people to move out of town to take the position.

Under normal circumstances, this would not deserve kudos, but given that we are on Day 11 of the Border Patrol Ad Watch … its worthy of note.

BTW, if you want to apply for the Improvement Committee … today is the deadline to get your letter/application to President Sarto.

Previously thought to be an audit looking for illegal aliens working at Otto Engineering, the US Department of Labor confirmed that it was merely doing a routine audit.

The Department of Homeland Security, not the Department of Labor, solely deals with the issue of illegal workers.

[Trustee Judy] Sigwalt said the issue of illegal immigration may have created a tense atmosphere in the village but that she believes the government still should search for illegal immigrants at Otto.

“Do I think maybe they should check? Yes,” she said. “Why not just do a check and be sure to clear the air? I would think that if someone had nothing to worry about they would not be sensitive or on edge.”

The whole town is “on edge”, Judy, thanks to the combative nature of the things you are doing.

Four years ago Otto Engineering received a clean audit from the Department of Labor.
