The sentencing of Carpentersville Trustee Paul Humpfer was delayed yet again today.
Humpfer was originally charged in August 2007 of hitting his wife twice with a baseball bat in May 2007. He was found guilty of the crime on March 5, 2008, and faces up to a year in jail for the crime.
Today’s delay marks the third time since the conviction that the sentencing has been delayed.
Humpfer retained his elected position after fellow Board allies created an ordinance declaring that the domestic incident was not serious enough to warrant his resignation or removal from office.
Supporters have maintained that Humpfer was justified in threatening, attacking and striking his wife with a baseball bat because of alleged reports that his wife had cheated on him.
A 2005 domestic incident required Humpfer’s wife, Jacqueline, to seek medical treatment for a cracked rib and bruised tailbone, according to reports.

Well, you know how careful courts must be. What if he had used a Louisville slugger? Would the court have to get permission to refer to a copyrighted name of a bat?
Are any reasons being given in court for the delays? It’s no wonder that dockets are jammed and other cases can’t get a speedy trial.
One has to be careful with flip comments, though. A woman on a jury in Denver got 7 days in jail for Contempt, when she told the jury panel that she had to get back to work and said, “Just give him a fair trial and string him up.”
Sounds like in this case he got a fair trial. Now, where’s that rope?

Interesting, it is a good thing to go and be part of the court proceedings and see what is happening. The case before the judge prior to Mr. Humpfer’s has been going on for seven years. Although I am reasonably sure that it also could be called a “delay” it is more about protecting everyone’s right.
Whether or not we like it!
Justice cannot be best served if dealt with swiftly or be contributed to by errors on the part of the courts and juries. The best example would be the freeing from death row of prisoners that were found guilty in a court of law by citizens and judges of the Illinois court system. Then Governor Ryan set the people “free” for certain death, because of problems with the courts.
We won’t bother talking about Prisoner Ryan for the sake of brevity!
Justice can take longer that what our perception of it is to be.
Justice should be impeachment, which the House of Reprehensive did, and the Senate did NOT! That stuff took place over several years and may have been just a LITTLE more important than our little “Days Of Our Lives” routine in Carpentersville.
“Monica Samille Lewinsky (born July 23, 1973) is an American woman with whom then United States President Bill Clinton admitted to having had an “inappropriate relationship” while Lewinsky worked at the White House in 1995 and 1996. The tawdry nature of the affair and its resulting repercussions in the impeachment of Bill Clinton and the surrounding scandals of 1997-99 became known as the Lewinsky scandal, “Monicagate” and “Zippergate”. The scandal overwhelmed media coverage of other public policy matters and raised questions about Clinton’s judgment and character among the public.”
One last thing I would like to mention is in reply to the statement:
“A 2005 domestic incident required Humpfer’s wife, Jacqueline, to seek medical treatment for a cracked rib and bruised tailbone, according to reports.”
I believe that the same injuries could be caused by sexual abuse on the patio of a home. I believe the same injuries where suffered by Pamela Anderson on a boat in Arizona.
This of course is all hearsay that is why it may just feel at home on this blog.

So, Peter Peter, who was physically injured in the consentual sexual relationship that Clinton had? We know who was hurt in the baseball bat attack on the Village Trustee’s wife. And the court convicted Humpher and acquitted Clinton, yet you seem to think there is some correlation here. I can’t see it!!!!
Justice dealyed is justice lost. What is the punishment for beating a woman with a bat…having to back to court a few times – so far that’s it. The Village Board allows such actions impunity and now we wait for justice to be done. Most people are sentenced and then pending appeal, may wait to serve their sentence for a period of time. Remember your pal Gov. Ryan????

“So, Peter Peter, who was physically injured in the consentual sexual relationship that Clinton had?”
Since most of what happens in the secrecy of Washington is concealed by those that do it and out of protection for the politician’s that perform those acts. How can’t you say people have not been hurt? Do you know that people where not physically hurt to TRY and keep their mouths shut?
While on the other hand certain individuals have actively persuaded the removal of Humpfer encouraged and helped Ms. Humpfer to file a complaint against Paul. The “witness’s” saw bruises? Never taking Ms. Humpfer to a doctor to have it verified or to the police for photographic evidence. In other words, hearsay.
“About a month after the incident, Jacqueline Humpfer reported the attack to police, then filed divorce papers. The pending divorce will include custody proceedings; both Lovig and defense attorney Van Richards wondered aloud during the trial whether some of the testimony was aimed at helping one party or the other win custody of the two children. ”
“Much of the couple’s 16-year marriage had been troubled, Jacqueline Humpfer said previously. Court records show a 2005 dissolution — also involving abuse allegations against the trustee — was dismissed the same year because the couple reconciled.”
“Justice “dealyed” is justice lost.”
Where in the earth did you get a statement like that? I assume you mean delayed? How can “justice” be lost? The court has not completed its work! The court has not finished its business! It is the normal course of business for the process to take a long time, so simple actions take six months to get done.
It is not a fast food establishment!
Go back and explain what “consentual” “having to back to court a few times” means, please. Tis interesting, “dealyed and having to back” are the some phonetic errors that the Mayor makes, is it a family thing?
At any rate, no member of Village, City, County, neither State nor the vaulted venue of Washington has been able to produce a person of valor that I would name my PAL!
Certainly no imprisoned Governor of Illinois, including the one that is going that way Baggy-0-Vich, will ever been honored to be my PAL.
I have but one PAL, my family and those few that know what truth is!

So, Peter Peter, I guess we just have to look to you to know all the answers. So how do you know that someone was not hurt in protecting Humpher, after all he is a “politician” and therefore there is a cover-up, according to you.
I’d prefer you just stick to hearing what you actually know. And the “Justice delayed …”comment is a well known axiom …But I’m sure the all knowing Peter Peter was just testing to see if I know that…And thanks for correcting my spelling . Its good to know I’m in good company.
And, for someone that is so smart, I wonder how come you make fun of the names of others or is it to cover up the fact that you don’t know how to actually spell his name without looking it up.
Lastly, “Pal” is what you call the people that you would obviously blindly support. If they weren’t your close friends then how could you know so much about them to support everything they do without question and even in the face of a guilty verdict. Innocent until proven guilty – but then they are guilty until proven innocent – Humpher is guilty and has not proven his innocence. He has had his days in court and the judge said he committed four counts of Domestic Violence and battery. But you disregard the courts and the laws for your “Pal”!!!!! Blind loyalty puts you in the same position as the one you support….

“Justice delayed, is justice denied.”

Origin
There are conflicting accounts of who first coined the phrase. According to Respectfully Quoted: A Dictionary of Quotations, it is attributable to William Gladstone but such attribution was not verifiable.[1] Alternately, it may be attributable to William Penn, although not in its current form.[2]
The phrase may alternatively be traced to the Magna Carta, clause 40 of which reads, “To no one will we sell, to no one will we refuse or delay, right or justice.”
