I stumbled across a couple the blog of Scott H Young this morning. While I regularly happen upon blogs with various intents and directions, there were at least two postings here that I felt could be of benefit to readers of Carpentersville Action Network — and I definitely thought about the Village Board when I read through some of the items in these lists.
The first post is titled “The Critical 7 Rules To Understand People“. Here’s an example:
Rule One: Never blame malice for what can easily be explained by conceit. (or ignorance)
People don’t care about you. This isn’t because people are mean or hurtful, but simply because they are mostly focused on themselves.
The rest of the post is also definitely worth the read.
The next post that caught my eye was “9 Steps to Stop Information Poisoning”.
A small amount of water reduces thirst. A large amount can poison you. The same principle applies to information. A small, carefully chosen amount can enhance your ability to make smart decisions. Too much and you fare no better than chance.
And, then of course, in all this one shouldn’t Underestimate the Power of Humility.
Don’t be too sure you have all the answers or you might not find new ones.
